Sun came out around 0945, had NW winds 15-25 Knots, sailed across the Palmico Sound with 25 knot winds. Good
sailing, beautiful shorelines.Arrived Oriental around 1600. Free city dock was occupied so we anchored by the OYC and some serious looking fishing vessels.
Dinghyed to town docks, walked around
for a little but, filled one of our gallon gas tanks, purchased ice then stopped at the ice cream shop for a cuppchino and an ice cream.
Found a tavern that promised entertainment for the evening.
Walked right thru a wedding ceremony, dressed like sailing bums, with the dock master. Didn't seem to bother the wedding or the dock master!
Returned to town that evening, and discovered the promised
or scheduled entertainment was not available, as they were playing at the wedding that we previously walked thru.
Made the most of the evening with a couple of Corona's and steamed mussels with a side
order of stuffed portebello mushrooms.
Met three guys from Boston, powerboaters, who were quite funny, obviously of Italian decent, probably mafia!
Great day, sailing was good across the Palimco Sound
and the Neuse River.
Oriental was nice yet, I don't think it is as great as many sailors build it up to be!
